today is the 1st day sch, and i haven’t finish my homework yet. Still left all the Chinese, sad.
i was so scared i'll be late for sch.
(cos of the move, our sch starts later than most schs, then since it was the 1st day i wasn't very sure when's flag rising)
I met Ching & Cam and we took bus 92 together. I would have preferred walking but oh well, yup. Anyway, there was the usual morning jam, where buses were slower than waling. The jam got worse nearer to school, cos it was single lane and there were a lot of parents driving their kids to sch. The teacher even had to act as traffic controllers to make sure that we cross the road safely and do not obstruct traffic.
Thankfully, i was in time, still early in fact. (:
We had a BIG welcome. There was lion dance, welcoming us to the new (or shld i say old?) campus, welcome sec 1s, welcome new teachers, welcome the pioneer batch of Year 5s, even welcome the PRCs. A suprising number of parents turned up. i wonder why. I don’t recall many parents turning up last year or even the year before. Well, perhaps this years Year 1 parents are more kiasu than the rest of the parents are.
(They even looked at the orientation games results and are concerned with which is the leading class!)
Our class 4E is sharing classroom with 3E. Well, it’s not even a classroom in the 1st place, it’s a lecture theatre to be exact. Anyway, that place is zhao dusty and the fan would blow dust out when on. It doesn’t even have space for tables, only those flip-up make-shift tables. We even have to squeeze in and out, needless to say there’s no place for books and bags. The white board is so small, air-con super cold. I wonder how are we going to survive there?
Then we went for DHS Explore 2007, the concept was Monopoly cum Amazing Race. This time we’re split within the level. We started out quite slow cos we were one of the last teams to finish the puzzle, but we managed to catch up. We turned out to be one of the first few grps to reach! Cos we ran all the way back. We went around a lot of places, mostly travelled by MRT and took lots of pictures, completed lots of tasks. A lot of time was spent on ‘Yield’ though, and we had to wait a very long time for almost every MRT. There was one station I almost got shut out! So scary!
Although we didn’t win in the end, but I enjoyed the Explore. The most important thing is we have fun right? I certainly think we did. My grp was nice, everyone was cooperative and were actively participating throughout. There was even once where we drop the marble in the drain and had to pick it up!
Many thanks for the people we made the Explore happen, including teachers and facilitators who helped. Special thanks to our 2 Team 10 facilitators for running with us all this while and even telling us the best way to get points! Thank for pretending to be injured so that we could use it as an excuse. (:.
Thanks KC for offering to send us the photos! I’ll post them up. ^_^
