Today was quite a fun day; the Year 4s had DHS Extreme.
It’s a telematch organised with the aim of class-bonding.
For my class 4E, we had to work out our station with a clue from a voice recording. We couldn’t really make it out at first, it was only after clues from facilitators that we managed to sum up the voice recording: Ever shot is a power shot. Which means it’s the tennis court.
It started out with a game of using your leg to draw stuff on a piece of paper on the wall with the rest trying to guess the cheng2 yu3 you are trying to draw. We lost the match to 4F (cos they have so many PRCs), but nevertheless we completed the game and had fun. The guys weren’t sporting enough to volunteer though, so it was mostly us girls who did. Haiz.
We were then given a clue, school map with a highlighted part. We were suppose to go there and look for smth round, which is our next clue. Smart LiBing guessed that it was a basketball rightaway, thus our next station is the basketball court. Saved us the trouble of going one big round. Therefore we reach there super earlier and while waiting for the next class, we came up with a ‘original’ cheer, actually improvised from the Year 1 orientation cheer. Haha.
When 4B finally came, we played the game of burning each other’s raffia sting. Each class had to send representatives to play the game. We came up with a strategy, with people taking turns to defend and attack. It was a violet game, with lots of screams and cheater-bugs, even the facilitators cheated!!! How unfair! Anyway, we still won in the end. We had ONE LAST STRING left when we burnt finished all of theirs.
For this years Orientation, we have 2 mascots, if we catch them they’ll give us smth to do and if we complete it we’ll gain bonus points! We caught the lobster and she got us to give her 20 shoelaces and 15 heads on the floor. The girls contributed shoelaces while guys lay on the ground. (:
Yup, then they gave us HALLS sweet – which means hall in other words. In there we waited super long for the other class, 4H. In the hall, we played the game where we sent out 8 reps to be blindfolded, the rest of us had to be on the 2nd level, giving them instructions on how to go into the maze and to find the jigsaw pieces. Wah, it was so chaotic lor. Everyone was shouting and no one could hear each other. But it was quite fun la. We shouted their names together aft the count of 3, so easy for them to hear. In the end, we finished the puzzle earlier than 4H.
Our next clue was to run around the track for our next station. We knew the answer after running and seeing ‘d’ & ‘i’, but nevertheless we had to finish the whole round. The next activity was the 4-legged football race where 3 ppl had to be tied together. Only 18 rep from each class to play th4 game. The rest of us sat at the grand stand cheering them on, it was quite fun watching them practising walking and ended up hopping around. We realise that the 3 scouts stationed at the goal-post dunno how to guard at all. They let all of 4D’s strike in! Whereas the 3 guides guarding their goalpost didn’t even let a single goal in. Watching them from afar, we can tell that it’s really not easy walking when 3 ppl are tied together, the raffia sting was cutting their leg and it was so muddy. A lot of ppl fell down, whole leg covered in mud. In end we lost, 4-0 to 4D.
The last game we played b4 lunch was at the foyer. We had to solve this riddle abt a piano to know we had to proceed to the foyer. It’s the traditional game of ppl standing on a mat and had to overturn it with the ppl still standing on top. Not everyone had to go up, so we got some ppl to support us from the outside. Some of us had experience playing it cause we did it for the Chua Choo Kang station of DHS explore, so Fan Di volunteered to flip the mat while the rest of us cooperate by squeezing, balancing and jumping when she needs us to. 4J finished it b4 us, and Jerome was there trying to tickle me with MeiXian’s hair, but at last we accomplished it. The facilitator said that we’re the only 2 classes to complete the thing without cheating! So happy.
Following that was lunch, I ate chicken rice again, cos yesterday thinking that the chilli doesn’t look hot, I put a lot of chilli. It was only after eating that I realise that it’s super hot! So in the end I didn’t really taste the chicken rice at all, and ended up drinking 5-6 cups of the free milo at the Milo van. I went back to our classroom at the LT, where they were telling ghost stories. The air-con was super shuang! I think I’m beginning to like my classroom. (: It was so shuang that some guys said they wanna pon the thing and jus in class and sleep, but they ended up coming anyway.
This year’s theme was ‘Atlantis’, so we were given this bubble blowing thing and whistles and party-poppers. So super fun lor! We were playing quite happily and even singing to the Pokemon song they were playing. We really looked as if we got no childhood. Haha.
We started off with the ‘Atlantis Challenge’, where each class had to send out 10 rep. No one volunteered in the beginning, so me and LiBing went. Aft much persuasion, we finally got 10 ppl to participate.
It was a obstacle race in the field, which means full of mud. The rest were watching in the grandstand. It started off with 10 spins on a gadget wood, then ping-pong ball on spoon walk zig-zag round the cones, then using chopsticks to pick up soap to the next part, where u have to eat cereal covered in flour, then duckwalk on benches and crawl under the table, to a pail. Using a cut with holes, transport water back to the starting point to fill a bottle. I was quite scared at first but it became really fun when everyone started to cheer for each other and even those who weren’t playing came down to support. It was super funny too, with ppl crossing over to the wrong lanes and ppl going in the wrong direction aft the spinning. Roy fell back after spinning 10 rounds; he would really fall flat on his back if not for the people catching him!
After the ‘Atlantis Challenge’ was ‘Tug-of-War’. Us students only won the 1st match, female students VS female teachers. Cos Mr Jeremy Lim was the anchorman in the rest of the matches, given his large physical mass and the strength of 10 men, the students stand no chance even if given handicap or if Mr Sng joins them. The MC joked that Mr Sng should sack the teachers if they won him. (: It was really fun! It’s a pity us UG ppl had to leave b4 the whole thing ends.
Yup, next was orientation prep again, with us Deco ppl busy at work with the banners and the rest busy with the Mini Games/Campsite. I was quite upset cos we were quite short handed actually, cos the Year 2s wasn’t here for some reason. So the rest of us had to work extra hard. It’s all HER fault.
Anyway we finished at 8 plus, went to eat KFC at Bugis. Sat with Selina, Esther & Ching, dunno why started talking abt Taiwan shows & songs and not surprisingly Esther didn’t understand wat we were talking abt. Haha. aft tat. We left. reach home abt 10 plus.
