It’s THE DAY we’ve all been preparing intensively for…
UG CCA Orientation 2007 is FINALLY here!!
*phew* I’m really glad that the orientation’s finally over. We’ve slogged really hard ever since the end of Dec till now, reaching home at 10plus everyday. I’m like lacking sleep almost everyday and hecking my homework all this while. (Which means that I’ll have to chiong finish 2 jian bao + 1 calendar by today! AGGRH!) But it’s all worth it la. I feel super satisfied to see that our half of the field is attracting the most attention with the structure and all. (:
It’s the first Orientation that has been in the field ever since the 2004 orientation, where we were still sec 1s. Well, this is wat I’ll call a proper orientation.
I mean, what’s a proper UG orientation where it’s not in the field? Yup, so as usual, it’s a combine activity with scouts. Ventures were the overall IC, with Cam & GuoXiang being the Sec 4 IC. There were various sub IC for diff sections also – I was the one for Deco.
As the theme was “Hippies Scouts and Guides; aware of the Hip and Happening” (thought by guiders), and the scouts dun wan any girl deco, so we were in charge of the decoration of the whole campsite. In addition to the poster and stuff we got to make, we had to make signboards for each section, 10plu s in total. (Initially I was against making the signs at first, cos I don’t think anyone will look at the signs, but since they wanted it, so be it.) and also 400 scorecards (lucky I had a lot of help with that one.) Anyway, most of the things we did turned out to be quite wasted, cos there simply wasn’t enough time to hang up all the decorations, even though we reach sch at 6plus, and some scouts even stayed overnight! That’s why I suggest that put less ppl in Deco next year, so that there’ll be more ppl to help for other sections. I mean, come on la, who will go look at the signs when they only have 20 min to finish looking at everything else?
Other sections didn’t have a nice time too, esp ppl at Post-man Walk, campcook, boundary and stuff. Yup, but I wont elaborate on that.
Besides that we were super rush, the orientation went on fine.
It was the best orientation we had in the past few years! It's all thanks to the seniors who cameThere was a gate (although it suppose to be a bridge) where we hung up the huge ‘Guides & Scouts’ banner and life-size model of guide and scout), Viking Ship (which was the one of the most fun things that can be ever built), Gladiator (which can be quite funny, esp when ZiYing’s on top), Catapult (shoot water bombs really high!), Archery Range (bows and arrows made of bamboo), there was even a campsite built, along with a mini gate, 2 tents, 2 kitchen shed for campcook, all the gadgets, and even an exit that resembles the revolving gate at hotels! Super cool right! Even some of the Sec 1s I brought ard say so. Yup, some of them quite enthu la, they tried all the games lor! Jus wat I did when I was Sec 1. haha.
Building the stuff was sure tough, of course we didn’t forget to have some fun ourselves! We played all the chances we get, and during the intermission, we had quite a lot of laughs at the Gladiator with the scout VS guide matches. Haha.
Orientation 2007 was really a major event that everyone put in a lot of effort in. Let’s hope we’ll get some good and enthu Sec 1s to join guides!
Aft the thingy they even played water bomb leh. SO FUN, I ALSO WANNA PLAY! But Ching, Esther and I signed up to volunteer for the a-cappella society for the Real Group Concert. We bathed at the sch toilet b4 going. (:
Though we were very tired, very thirsty, very sleepy, I enjoyed it. It was quite a gd experience la, although there was nothing much to do and therefore a bit boring in that sense, it’s not everyday or anybody can go to the Esplanade backstage! It’s quite cool to have a official tag that has ur name on it too. (: Although we felt a bit upset cos of SOME PPL, but it was truly a gd experience. Everything was worth it to get to watch the Real Group perform. They were from Sweden, and they were great! The audience loved them! I can tell that they enjoy performing here too. They encored 2 times lor! (:
Yup, that was my whole full tiring day. Very tired but happy.
And BURNT too! (Almost all the UG ppl were burnt.) Haha.
