Back from level camp.
That sounds strange.
I don’t call that a level camp.
It was more like a packaged tour for me.
I mean, I actually went for it and put on weight la
Serious! And I found out that it’s not only me.
Seems like almost everyone did.
Maybe except Jerome, who was down with fever, had to see doc,
And communicate using sms.
(as in his throat so sore tat he has to use his phone as his voice – typing and showing to us. Haha)
Actually that’s not hard to believe,
Not if u know what we have been doing the past week.
Here’s what:
Eat breakfast,
sleep on coach,
eat lunch, sightsee,
sleep again,
dinner,
sleep in hotel room
That has to be the slackest level camp anyone would have ever been to la
Not that I’m complaining.
Haha. Who doesn’t like to be slacking for once right?
Erm. The level camp was quite okay overall la.
We traveled in our classes, with Ms Seow & Mrs Phua
& our tour guide, whom we call Auntie Julie
I enjoyed it minus the mosquito bites and the fact the I gained weight, and the long food queues and the super ungentlemanly guys we have in sch. BRRRRGHH
Ok, let me go on with the itinerary
Day 1:
Super long bus ride.
Lunch was food with lots of files around.
The served rose syrup. We had 3 days of it.
They must have liked it a lot.
Kuantan Agro-Park was kind-of interesting,
As they specially prepared kueh for us! The coconut was oily, but nice.
Haha. I know. I’m such a glutton.
Check in at Legend Resort.
(which was wat I was waiting for aft a long tired journey on the bus)
The dinner under the moonlight was cool (:
Group sharing. Our class actually won smth!
Now that’s the reward we deserve for screaming our lungs out.
Day 2:
Long bus ride.
Observed the traditional activities of the Malays.
Kris making, kite-making, brass ware, batik
Thought they was really cool.
The local ppl are so passionate abt keeping their tradition alive
that they are willing to give up modern comforts
just to continue their craft!
That is what I call devoted.
I really respect them lor, that’s smth that take guts and perseverance.
Checked in at Pantai Primula Resort,
Which was better then the Legend
(though we couldn’t find the room door at first, as it was hidden behind another door)
Played bridge (Swat Teng’s call the previous night scared me.)
Went to the cultural show cum dinner hosted by the Terengganu State govt
Though it differs from my expection,
It wasn’t’ tat bad la
Day 3:
Visited Central Market.
Looked at local spices,
Bought cuttlefish, and grabbed some souvenirs
(think not enough :P)
found out that their teh terih is really sweet
Terengganu State museum was cool
Learnt quite a lot frm their.
A pity we didn’t get to visit the marine exhibit though.
Lemang was nice! Esp with the beef floss
Ok, it’s actually glutinous rice wrapped in pandan leaves bbq in bamboo
We had extra toppings. (:
Dinner was terrible.
Not talking abt the food though.
It’s like half our level is sitting in air-con room la,
While the rest of us sits outside and get surrounded by mosquitoes.
My table alone used finished half my tube of mopiko.
Visited the turtle Sanctuary
We had to keep really quiet
Though we waited on the bus till 12,
we didn’t manage to see any laying eggs,
We got to release the 2 day old turtles.
They’re alr so big that they almost crawled out of my palm!
They move so fast that I haven’t the time to change hands.
It’s really cool to see them going in the sea direction.
Don’t they ever loss their sense of direction?
I guess it’s in the genes.
It was really nice to see them embark on their journey.
depressing to know that only a small percentage of them would survive though.
Day 4:
The fun day.
We get to try out the traditional activities of the locals.
Our first stop was kite flying.
It’s the 1st time I actually flew one,
So I was rather glad tat despite failing my first few tries,
I managed to get the kite up on my own aft several attempts!
I’m proud of myself, and my kite tat it managed to go so high up.
It was so much fun, tat we didn’t wanna stop when we had to.
In the process of bring our kites down, KK, ZhiFang & my kite got tangled.
We had to break the strings in the end.
Cut my had a bit. Ouch.
Batik painting was okay.
I learnt tat it’s really difficult to do the waxing part.
Luckily they drew it for us.
The paint spreads really fast,
adding to the fact that I keep dripping paint on the rest of the parts.
Thought that it looked better b4 boiling though.
Lunch was ok,
A bit unhygienic though, lots of insects ard.
The other table played zhong ji mi ma with the food and tea.
Went on with magkuang weaving
I don’t actually get it.
Luckily they finished up from me (:
Wanted to buy the fan, but bought a pouch for grandma instead.
Shopping at Kuantan Mega mall was cut short cos we dragged kite flying
Not tat I mind anyway.
Nothing much to shop anyway.
I only bought a necklace for RM10
The dinner at a Chinese restaurant was good.
It even had deer meat! [we were arguing whether it’s beef or muton]
Appreciation night was, how to say, HIGH.
Eveyone’s morale was zhao high la, esp 4G, 4H, 4I. 4F wasn’t so bad either.
Make me demoralized.
Cos our class a bit the soft mah.
Some more our song very de not high tat type.
It’s actually fei ne mo shu + wo ke yi + xiao wei
In the end it’s quite ok la,
We gave our best on stage lor. It was really our best performance ever le.
But 4G was still better.
They got the singers, guitarist, and even actors!
Andrew+Sebestian, BJ+Ray!
Super gay la, but we like . haha.
On the bus Ms Seow made us sing Karaoke
It originally started with them saboing author to sing,
Then I became register no. come out sing.
Realize tat some of 4e really cant sing, but the rest sang pretty well. (:
Tat resulted in ppl practicing songs, memorizing lyrics
while the rest played bridge & ate grapes in mexian+ libing’s room till 1am.
Day 5:
Visited the fishing village.
It was quite cool amidst the smell of salted fish.
A pity we couldn’t stay longer though
On the journey, Auntie Juile introduced us this bollywood show
While we were watching, came this loud *BANG*.
We thought some luggage dropped or wat.
It was actually an indication to change tire
So all 9 buses stopped to help.
While we were there at the pavilion by the road side.
Aft a long bus ride,
We finally arrived back in Spore, safe and sound, no doubt with a slight weight increase.
i remb on the night of 30/4 last year,
i was at PLTC camp in sch,
sitting on the canteen bench with my fellow P3 Popeye patrol mates
this year's night of 30/04,
i was at sch too,
but this time attending the 1st ever DHS movie marathon!
it was well, cool.
i mean it's quite an experience watching a movie
with ppl from ur sch late at night in a lecture theatre,
let alone 5 moives, straight in a row.
u see ppl equipped with all sorts of stuff for night,
pillows, tib-bits, pepsi.. u name it.
for de first slot,
we got a choice of watcing Night at the Museum or Initial D
as i watched Night b4
jiaying and i watched Initial D
it was not bad lor, with all the drifting cars and all.
better than expected actually.
[but maybe that's cos i didn't expect much?]
liked the characters though. (:
we rushed to toliet b4 we got our supper.
then we went to book seats b4 eating (kiasu mah)
only mangaed to stuff half the packet of bee hoon in m mouth.
2nd slot was jiaying's choice,
since i made the frist choice le.
she chose Pirates of the Caribbean II,
which i watched b4
though i wanna watch national tresure,
but Pirates was OK with me. (:
there were no more intermissions aft that.
we just had to rush to toliet and back in between moives.
3rd slot: Ringu [jap version of The Ring] VS Happy Feet
what a strange combi.
i mean i dont wanna watch both!
but we ended up watching Ringu.
think it lacks plot lor, like most horror movies do
but the scary element is there la,
considering random scary pics would pop out every once in a while
then everyone would scream.
4th slot,
we were determined to watch The Prestige,
even though the number of people there was overwhelming
(no one wanted to watch The Maid la, esp not right after Ringu)
as Mr Leong recommended it.
it's was a bit confusing at the beginning la,
cos it wasnt tat type which u can easily predict wat's going to happen next.
it's the uncertainty tat makes it interesting,
however the ending wasn't unexpected,
even though it didn't obey the laws of physics.
in conclsion, i had a nice time trying to figure out what happened. (:
it's hard to understand how rivalry can bring people to tat state though.
last slot:
high sch musical, Ju-on, Remember the Titans
we watched Titans.
really inspirational, esp it was based aft a true story
liked the characters, and the plot.
it was nice (:
yupp. and so the marathon ended.
suprisingly i didnt fall asleep leh,
despite the fact that i slept at 2 plus the previous night.
I survived movie marathon!
5 movies straight without sleeping a wink.
what a cool way to spend a birthday, dont you think?
