we had a model of the UN conference in sch today with judges from MOE and all,
we were on our best behaviour,
with our ties on and everything, looking prim and proper.
we were suppose to be delegates representing different nations is a United Nation Conference settling.
so what was probably expected was some
international politics.
but wad it turned out to be was more like
CLASS POLITICS.erm, let's jus say the atomsphere was weird la. cos a certain grp frm a certain class
went all out to oppose wad the other delegations said,
it has caused much unhappiness to the rest of the delegates.
it wasn't like they HAVE to do it.
we could have easily passed all the resolutions by direct voting wad.
there simply wasnt a need to SLAM all the other resolutions made by grps nt from your classs.
maybe they jus cant bear to see that the other proposals are more popular then their own?
but their way of approaching it certainly isnt working.
their aggressive opposition got us furiously condemning them.
it's like i think their resolution not bad, my group could have votted for it,
but it's jus the way they treated the rest of the delegtes like they were all inferior or smth.
THAT's smth i cant stand.
the rest of the groups (those not from their class) couldn't too.
tt resulted in us forming this alliance,
to BOYCOTT their resolution altogether.
so in the end their well thought out paper failed.
it's not tt we are immature or smth.
but tt's how reality works!
u're suppose to MAKE FIRENDS with other nations,
and make them happy so tt they'll vote for u,
not condemn their resolutions.
and by doing tt, u're acutally turning all of them against u,
and you wont stand any chances of getting wad u want either.
it's definately a lose-lose situtaion if you look from the far sighted view.
during the prize presentation drumroll, all the ppl of tt class were shouting for them to win,
while all of us shouted for the other teams.
so, guess who won the best the best position paper & best delegation?
IT WASN'T THEM!actually i really thought it was going to be them.
cos to be fair, i think theirs was the most thought out paper,
with a lot of details and everything.
but i suppose, wad they lost out on was personal touch.
we live in a world where PERSUASION is the key,
so therefore,
NEVER CONFRONT, ALWAYS PERSUADE.tt was definately a valuable lesson learned.
