the march hols are finally here!
but then again, besides not having lessons,
i really cant think can think of any other difference it has with sch days.
for one, i still hav to wake up early everyday.
yeah. EVERDAY.
for Raffles Community Leaders Fourm and Guitar Practices.
like MayFong said: Holiday = HORRI-day.
haha.
speaking of Mayfong,
she's in the same Special Interest Group as me for RCLF!
mayfang, cheryl, geneve & me are in Education Opportunities. (:
Speaking of which, think RCLF is quite cool lah.
it looked a bit boring initially,
especially for those who dont like forums and seminars,
[ there are ppl like there there, who jus went for CV sake. DUH. ]
but for a ISAC kid like me it's gd exposure.
it boardens your perspective jus listening to the both local/foreign delegates (:
looking forward to mon & tue!
but at least i got sun free lah.
going to SMU open house & watching Huang Cheng with 6A peeps. (:
ohh really wanted to catch movies like L! and maybe Step Up2,
but got no time / timetable clashes >.<
anyone wanna watch with me?
ARRGH. senior high life is so stressful lah.
i cant imagine what would hav happened if i had gone to other JCs.
could it have been better or worse?
DHS is a sheltered place.
we're comfortable at where we are cos the sch is very protective.
but tt same plus point cos also be a minus point in a way tt we're sort of enclosed in a cave,
cordoned off from the rest of the world.
do we lose our competiveness?
maybe yes, tt's why i'm desperatly trying to catch up with the rest of the world outside class time.
cos, at the end of the day, the workforce isnt limited to the small confined circle of DHS.
so i was thinking, why didnt i chose to transfer?
i would hav to deal with peer pressure & feel demoralised.
but at the same time i could hav been given more opportunities,
widen horizons, made more friends, stretched intellectural ability, perhaps even motivated to study.
but then again, 2 years is definitely not enough for me to adapt and settle down for A levels.
besides, life could hav been more hectic & competive.
and i admit i was also lazy to fill in the application. also lazy to change out of the environment i'm alr very familar with.
well, every path has it's pro and cons.
and since i've made a decision, i shall stick to it.
haha esp since i love DHS & 5C12 & Guitar & Guides too much to move anyway. (:
ohh then there'll be a problem of holding on to friends.
if you transfer sch often maybe u'll face this problem of distancing urself from the ones tt u know.
but in DHS we know each other from like,
since Sec 1, and totally know each other inside out.
so it lessens the problem of drifting apart, in my opinion.
some may say tt going into new places you start afresh and widens ur social circle.
tt is true of cos.
but i also believe tt we shld hold on to our close friends,
even when we make new ones.
although some ppl jus say senior high is jus a continuation of the junior high,
but i think generally most ppl are adopting changes,
maybe gradually, but significantly.
like me for one, is usally a reserved person [haha yeah cos i'm an introvert]
but is slowly learning to speak up,
as i've learnt tt if not i'll hav to jus hold my peace.
and also i know i cant do public speaking,
so i'm trying my best to improve too.
not only for the sake of PW but as personal development too.
i believe in holistic education.
we shld always strive for a balanced education instead of one tt jus trains you up for examinations.
although i agree that havin a good qualification is impt,
but what is the most useful is what can be appliable in the workforce,
and that is EQ, smth which you cant be taught,
but has to go thru self-discovery thru experiences.
i've discovered tt while those with the qualifications are given a headstart,
they might not neccessarily come up as the champions of life.
perhaps it's the way i view success?
you might be holding a high ranking position but tt solely doesnt mean tt you succeed in life.
success to me is happiness.
not only your own but also of family & frineds around you.
i totally dont agree with backstabbing those close to you in order to climb up the corperate ladder.
at the end of the day your selfish actions will leave you with no one to share your happiness with.
so what's the point?
and i totally hate CV-builders. those selfish pigs! #%!%#*#^@#
tt's why i'm striving to boarden my experiences whenever possible,
but at the same time,
by taking part in a lot of things deprive me of the time to study & rest,
and results in me getting stressed easily.
so i've decided to stop getting myself involved in so many commitments,
and learn to commit to my current ones.
[ it took me very long to ponder and having to make the decision to give up WAFF & NDP EXCO ] - haha it's the 'Thinker' side of me working.
it's totally irresponsible to sign up for everything and ending up having to drop out midway.
yupyup so senior high has really been quite fruitful so far, with lots of First-s:
[ expect tt i dont study enough >.< ]
- Chingay! - my 1st dance performance
- Semakau - my 1st nature walk/guiding
- Class CIP - my 1st time heading a proj
- Health Week - my 1st time making announcement (although it's kindof a flop)
yupyup so as u can see i tried to walk out of my comfort zone to take on new challenges despite still staying on in the same environment.
but then, the problem of time management arises
let's hope i'll be able to overcome it
[ something i've been trying to since Pri 5 but in vain >.< ]
anyway, i've decided to chiong all the fun stuff in J1
and jus drop everything and become a full-time mugger in J2.
but i think i'll need great determination to achieve tt too. GRRRRR.
Attended this Central Spore CDC training course at IBMEC today.
I quite enjoyed it despite the very long duration (9am to 5pm?!)
Gained lots of insights as the trainer was really professional
and shared with us a lot about life and abt Working Together Successfully.
Most of the other participants there were nice too, esp the uncles tt were sitting with us. (:
Think the most rewarding thing tt i took home was the analysis of my personality type.
Well i supposed i've always liked to do personality tests,
but Daniel (our trainer) made me realise tt it'll actually be quite impt to know which type of person you are as it'll influence your career choice.
it'll be too late to enroll in a uni course then after a few lessons few tt it's not your cup of tea.
took this personality test tt i find quite accurate.
- Introvesrion VS Extroversion
- iNtuition VS Sensing
- Thinking VS Feeling
- Perceiving VS Judging
i scored IN(T/F)P,
which in my case I’m found to be
slightly expressed introvert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
expressed both thinking & feeling personality
slightly expressed perceiving personality
and from tt the trainer actually deduced tt i:
will tend to isolate myself from people I’m not comfortable
like to spend quiet time alone
like to think but if I cant think of solutions I’ll use intuition
do work at the last minute
my desk is always in a state of an ‘organized mess’
if I cant solve problem I’ll panic and get stressed
and which they are true!
Haha tt’s why I decided to use these results to help me make a better career choice.
Hmm.. abt the introversion part.
Yeah I agree I’m an introvert lah,
Actually I have been working hard to try to strengthen my extroversion.
Not tt I don’t like being an introvert,
But it’s simply more rewarding to be more extroverted at times.
As the trainer said, introverts can be extroverts at times too.
Jus tt we will die down aft a while as we might not have as much energy to last thru out as the extroverts does.
Which I agree (:
Erm about the Thinking VS Feeling part.
I scored more or less equally
so yeah I agree tt I tend to neglect ppl’s feelings at times,
(usually tt’s when I’m very stressed).
Other than tt I’m usually good with people.
And tt actually categorized me as an Idealist – smth I had wanna break away from.
INTPs are pensive, analytical folks. They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them.
[haha. Tt’s why I tend to talk to myself sometimes ]
INTPs are relatively easy-going and amenable to almost anything until their principles are violated, about which they may become outspoken and inflexible. They prefer to return, however, to a reserved albeit benign ambiance, not wishing to make spectacles of themselves.
[ yeah this is so super true! ]
A major concern for INTPs is the haunting sense of impending failure. They spend considerable time second-guessing themselves. The open-endedness (from Perceiving) conjoined with the need for competence (NT) is expressed in a sense that one's conclusion may well be met by an equally plausible alternative solution, and that, after all, one may very well have overlooked some critical bit of data. An INTP arguing a point may very well be trying to convince himself as much as his opposition. In this way INTPs are markedly different from INTJs, who are much more confident in their competence and willing to act on their convictions.
[ yeah this is true to some extent too. I’m super indecisive ]
Healers (INFP) are the most sensitive to the underlying emotional current. If that current is negative and they can’t fix it, they will find a way to withdraw.
[ tt’s why I isolate myself ]
INFP Artisans believe that variety is the spice of life, and that doing things that aren't fun or exciting is a waste of time. Artisans are impulsive, adaptable, competitive, and believe the next throw of the dice will be the lucky one. They can also be generous to a fault, always ready to share with their friends from the bounty of life. Above all, Artisans need to be free to do what they wish, when they wish. They resist being tied or bound or confined or obligated; they would rather not wait, or save, or store, or live for tomorrow. In the Artisan view, today must be enjoyed, for tomorrow never comes.
[ haha yeah! ]
Idealists are the most variable in their needs for a study environment. However, one thing that can strongly affect their ability to study is the emotional temperature around them, even if it doesn’t directly include them. Idealists find that a positive aura has a synergistic effect on their work output.
[ yah! I so agree! ]
The most sensitive of the Idealists is the Healer (INFP). While their list of jobs may echo that of other Idealists, they are more drawn to express their own unique vision of the world that all other types, so their work cannot help but be unique. They interpret their visions in the world of music, art, entertainment, or dance. As a professor or teacher, counselor or social worker, they often unlock the mysteries of life for those they encounter. In business they are drawn to organizational development and human resources careers. They may have a religious calling or seek work as a librarian. Their careers need to be in alignment with their personal values.
All Idealists seek to have a life of meaning, to help themselves and others grow to be the best that they can be. They do not want to be a copycat of someone else, but want to be seen as a unique and valuable individual.
Haha yup so most of tt is true lah.
Maybe it’s cos I like to make informed choices and plan early,
It’s the career choice tt I’m most concerned about.
At first I was thinking about: Marketing, Human Resource.
Then the analytical side of me though Banking & Finance was better.
But then I’m not really tt interested in accounting.
Haiz. Maybe I’ll jus work in the HR dept of a bank? Haha
I shld go seek advise from my trainer (:
ohh not forgetting the one we took in class during PW,
i'm a FOX + OWL = FOWL?!
haha yeah i scored 31 for both.
so far only HongSheng's score same as mine i think.
oh and LiBing & Keith were the extreme ends in our class (turtle & shark).
haha (:
yeah profiling is FUNN.
[a super accurate profiling test cost hundreds of dollars! ]
heard tt we'll be doing the above profiling test in sch during term 2 (:
who knows, maybe there would be a slight change to my personality by then~
