today.
went to sch for ISAC today.
but before i comment on ISAC i thought i'll spend some time to talk abt the TJR campus.
firstly, they have yello chairs. like BIRGHT YELLOW chairs. like those tt u'll likely find in nursary class. arrgh. cant stand it. strains my eyes u know. and strains my brain to even think abt it.
ok this a bit random but i thought it'll be good to share (:
u know we were at the TJR campus then someone said go to KFC to eat.
then we actually stoned for a while.
it really took everyone like 3 seconds to realise that we are not a Mt Senai anymore!
haha!
cos we were like expecting her to say Ghim Mo Market or smth.
cause like, Mt Senai got no fast food.
HAHA! okok random.
ok, moving on,
there hasn't been ISAC activitiy for a long time but i think it felt much better after that long break.
i guess the people really mattered.
i spend the better part of the afternoon talking to SwatYee & Wyane & Yifan @ KFC for the longest time.
i didnt realise it was so much fun to listen to their cycles of stories.
though i cant excactly say i'm close to them,
but it was cause the main characters were like the people we know,
and they were very willing to share and i felt comfortable jus laughing with their stories.
that's how it should be right?
i mean, it's casue they are nice people that i felt at ease with them.
and their effective communication which i felt i need with a lot of people but it somehow wasnt there.
i'm really glad i got to talk to them.
and i really think i should talk to them more.
i'm glad we're in press corps ((:
i'm so glad i'm in DHS actually.
cause like i just heard someone said "i hate DHS" then i thought back to my many talks with all the HighFive ppl from ohter tops schools.
the general feeling i get is that cause their school is big, they undeniably have more exposure but most of them dont actually like their school culture very much.
and so would i lah, if i had went there.
recently someone asked if i regret staying in DHS ( as in not transfering out ) and i thought about it.
truth is,
initially: yes. i really regretted it.
i was like missing out on so many opportunities and i would have made so many friends and all.
then i went so depressed that i even talked bad abt DHS fo a while until i grew immune to it and just stopped thinking about it.
and i havent thought abt it since.
until now, when someone asked if i regret making that choice to stay.
and my answer now would be no.
yes i do know i'm missing a lot of the JC life that the rest are speaking about, but i'm also freed from the complexities that come with it.
although i do agree that i could have made more friends if i've went on but why would i want to make more new friends when there could only be a few close ones?
i know some of us are still thinking about the opportunities that we missed,
but i seriously dont regret my decision.
although i cant say for the social circle that i could have widened but i could for the depth of ties that we've formed through the years.
i dont know what could have become of me if i really did transfer but i certainly would know what would happen to all the half formed friendship if i had left it just like that.
though the people remian the same but our ties get strengthened by the day.
bonds take time to grow and i really feel that i have more close friends now than i did in my junior high years.
i'd rather have close friends that i can really depend on in times of trouble then friends whom i could say hi on the corridor to.
well, that's just me i supposed.
and i realised after the talk @ KFC that DHS really still has more people that i havent met and nice people that i havent discoverd.
ok more reminence.
i was clearing out my Sec 1/2 stuff and i saw the old art pieces and i was like 0.o
sigh.
those were the days when we were made to do painting and all the stuff that i didnt like and in the end i was so bad at it.
lucky i took art in Year 3-4 if not i would have been stuck at the lousy image of art all my life.
ok finally, smth that totally pissed me off.
those tt know me will know that i hardly ever roll my eyes, or at least i try not to.
however, this made me roll it many times and it's because of 2 ppl that totally deserve coal from Santa this Xmas.
#@!!$&*^#\^(%*$#$@!^!!
i'm wondering why am i still nice so as to give her a Xmas card.
HUMPH.
ohh speaking of Xmas cards,
i'll pass it to u guys when i see u this week or if not i'll be mailing it be it'll take a long time cos there are many last-minute senders (like me) out there.
so sorry but it's better late than never right?
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! (or rather, wad's left of it) ((:

camp vivant (:
i thought vivant this year was a bit different, with the camp objectives and all, but nevertheless it was a good experience.
let's see.
at first i was rather reluctant to go for camp,
not because of anything but rather it would be taking up one whole week of my rapidly depleting time left to do homework.
but at the end of the day i'm glad i went,
mostly because it was a good chance for me to know my fellow highfivers better,
which i really need cause frankly it'll be harder for me to fit in if i keep missing highfive events.
this leads me to my next point, in which through the camp i realised some very important points i'll need to take note of.
firstly would be that i realised i dont really hit off nicely with a lot of people,
simply because not many are on the same frequency as me.
this makes it harder to make friends, so perhaps i should try adjusting my frequency a little and adapt myself more to the surrounding.
however at the same time,
it would mean i'll need to cherish my friends,
and to make extra effort to keep in touch with them as i few i'd rather have a few close friends than many not-close ones (:
secondly, i need to be consciencously aware of myself i think.
dont really want to give others a bad impression.
beef up on quantity and quality speech (:
to tie up the lose ends:
i really think the highfive are hilarious (and self-admitted bitchy)!
and the games were mostly fun (and disgusting)!
it was my 1st time sitting on a Maxis Cab!
the food was good (in comparsion with other camp food)! esp the day at Sentosa! (:
the loudging was GOOD! double-deck bed with aircon! (1st time i slept on the top deck)
subway&kfc breakfast was good!
so were all the junkfood & herbal tea + honey lemon!
i think late night debriefing sessions work.
well, that pretty much sums up the camp!. ((:
i dont think i'll have time to do a lot of highfive stuff in 2009,
so perhaps the next proj i can do will be vivant 09.
well, till then! ^____________^

recent dining experiences
for those who know me will know that i'm a pig.
for those who dont, haha, now you do (:
okok pardon my poor opening statement,
but what i really wanted to say was that some of my recent dining experiences
really warrent some special mention.
the 1st:
after helping to shift all the stuff from the backstage to the (unexpectenly small) lorry,
i had supper @ Mac with Dora, YunTong & ShunJie + some other TS ppl that i dont exactly know.
i was abt to sit down & was strating to clear the trays
when i saw this auntie talking to Dora & YunTong.
well, she was lecturing us about clearing our own trays & clearing up after ourselves.
we were like: ok auntie we were jus abt to clear the trays.
but she jus went on and on.
we were like 0.o
cause basically she isnt even an employee of Mac.
but she's like,
going everywhere clear up after all the mac customers & lecturing poor ppl like us abt replacing our own tray after we finish.
we seriously think she's like more efficient than all the Mac staff put tgt lah!
it was just us thinking that way,
cos we overheard ppl at the other table talking about her too.
and there was this other Mac employee staring at her with wide open eyes.
cos with her around i dont think they'll hav any jobs to do lah.
haha maybe she's just some 洁癖 that has too much time and energy (in which she transfers to naggy power) on her hands.
2nd:
LiBing & i went to visit Peggy at SGH with the rest of the BSP 07 facils
she jus had an operation.
havent seen the rest for a very long time,
but most of them are still their old self lah.
all except PohTing i think.
she really changed a lot!
and the way she speaks remind me of someone,
but up till now i still cant figure out who's that.
anyway, we watched Peggy pick at her strands of noodles and then went to Kopitiam and had lunch ourselves.
then the rest decided to go somewhere to talk crap but i didnt tag along.
i figured my absence wouldnt make a difference to them cos we dont exactly clique lah.
but still, they are a bunch of ppl that i can get along with and hope will be able to keep in contact (:
3rd & the worst:
my dinner at Chinatown with my family.
ok firstly it was cos the auntie waitress was terrible.
she seemed to have a drop too much lah.
cant even remb whether that she already took orders from us.
and took her own sweet time to deliver up the plates (she brought 3 instead of 4 -.-)
then the ppl at the next table discovered that their steam fish is still a bit raw. (YUCKS)
the fact is, we ordered steam fish too.
and then it took ages to come. (1 whole hour to be exact)
till the point that we dont even feel like eating.
haha okok i shall ignore the above bad experience.
no worries it did not deminish my food-loving soul one bit!
i was just talking to Suat abt the guitar Xmas gathering and i'm like looking forward to it already.
haha YESH I'M A PIG.

old + new
was surprised to receive an email from my old boss asking me to go back and help.
and so i did.
didnt lose my way as i thought i would have, (which is a good thing)
and i discovered i actually only need half an hour to get there! (:
haha met new ppl,
and marvelled at the way they do business.
what a lot i have to learn from them..
did the same boring but slack job and feel the sense of the familarity of 3 years ago when i was a mere Sec 2.
alas! how time flies!
the place was how i remb it was,
except that Boss renovated the place - looks more hip and presentable now.
but the back is like 0.o HORRIBLE.
i only have one word to describe it - MAN.
one houseful of man living in this house crammed with so many goods that they cant even call it home.
ok i was alr like that the last time i saw it,
but at least it didnt stink so badly cos there was Venus.
oh boy, how i miss her!
but i hear that she's doing good now so at least that's good news (:
and here's another piece of good news.
Boss has expanded his business by 3-folds in the last few years!
pro right?
i knew he had that in him lah (:
but that seriously made him a very busy man.
i wonder if he has time for his family?
or is his hands aways full with work from one of his many companies?
pleasant surprise to meet RuiXian on bus 14.
made my way to help out at TheatreSports 劲爆剧场大比拼!
omg omg it was such a good experience!
i went from having nothing to do,
to having lots of things to do and having to do them at a really fast speed.
but no worries i got my fair share of emancing myself in their performance,
along with Dora, who was ever excited and always jumping/screaming about. haha.
TS is about impromptu + daring + expressive + humour,
which i seriously dont have the talent for.
looks like i really need a lot of practice in that area!
but i must say,
watching them was certainly very good exposure.
i regret not taking pictures lah!
nvm nvm i shall go again next year ((:
and the clappers were really useful lah!
and the rest of the TS merchanise!
a pity we couldnt really give a lot of them out.
but oh well,
looks like i'm not the only one going in unsure of a lot of things.
unfortunately, the MC is too.
she only started practicing today lah. WTH.
anyway, watching them was really entertaining,
esp the seniors team, who strung tgt puns at 陈随便(HAHA!) & 恶毒后妈's fansination for Melamin-tainted milk products.
ohh and the best were the guest performers from Macau!
super enthusiatic and very humourous despite the difference in language and culture,
they really made me re-new my resoluntion to learn fluent Canto!
[yup ppl, try to talk to me in Canto k? i really need to expand my very limited Canto vocab (: ]
haha i was like thinking,
there's hope for DHS's 戏剧 le!
cos like, Hua Chong's 皇城 is alr so established,
so it's quite hard to match up to their current standard given our lack of manpower & experience.
however, i seriously think that TS is a good direction to go to capture some of the Chinese Drama market share!
though TS doesnt come with all the extensive backdrops and well-memorised scripts,
that is precisely the selling-point and the gem of the sport.
after watching this year's 皇城,
i can tell you that, coming for 劲爆剧场大比拼 is certainly more worth your while.
like Grace said, her $5 was super worth it for 3 solid hours of laughter.
not only that, it's cause everything is impromptu,
you can really see the real skill in the actors instead of the well-rehearsed script regurgitation.
& there's audience participantion!
so much better than 皇城 where u jus sit thru the whole performance whether you like the story or not.
i really think that it'll help boost DHS's reputation in the Drama arena.
there should be much more publicity!
皇城's only famous cause they have the history and the manpower lor.
but in fact they dont really have a lot of new ideas and standards have become stangant over the years?
but TS is different!
more and more people are getting exposed to TS and with them they bring in new ideas!
i believe that given more time the sport could blossom and bear the fruits for Mr Jacky Lee's labour!
WAY TO GO 劲爆剧场大比拼!
you guys alr have some loyal fans!
and in time to go,
show the 皇城 people who's boss. ((:

i love my SHINY FINGER!
YAY i finally found time to do some real reading!
after i finish this i'm going to find other books written by Gregg Hurwitz & Nora Roberts (:
[ yup one's action & the other's romance - geners that i never read b4! ]
ohh and i jus got reminded of the Alex Rider series!
and the series of unfortunate events! - my last book alr leh!
ahhh! must readddddddddddd!
OHH and i got a SHINY FINGER!
cos this promotor polished it for me (:
she found the right target lor,
cos guitar ppl are obessed with nail care, or rather, kevin is.
but the difference is, i'm not as price insensitive as him,
so i didnt buy it as despite the generous 50% discount & buy 2 get 1 free promo,
the $45 is way out of my budget.
maybe we should use guitar fund to buy!
or anohter suggestion,
we could go for mass madicure!
HAHA (:

standard chartered marathon
i kept mistaking the actual day to be Sun,
simply cause it's dated 7 Dec.
lucky mervyn reminded me it's supposed to be Sat night (;
anyway we went for a midnight movie at bugis!
because of my absolute objection to watching horror shows,
we watched BOLT!
thanks to the guys for being accomodating ((:
we meet the scouts in the cinema,
with us wearing black and thme wearing white
no it wasnt pre-arranged,
(i'm refering to both meeting them & wearing colour-combi shirts)
but it certainly made walking there more fun, with an overdose of replays from Bolt scenes - i found Nic's Super-Bark command re-invented SHUT UP particularly funny ((:
[and nope we didnt get lost despite the fact what it was past mid-night cause we were on my turf (: ]
and i would jus like to mention that Bolt's #1 fan RHINO is SUPER CUTE!
i especailly like that part when he mentions he eats danger for breakfast!
rhino! <33
when we reached there,
despite having to wave and shout (haha that part was only me i think)
it wasn't long before we found the rest!
ohh but i would like to mention: THEY KEEP BULLYIN ME! HUMPH.
we spent a long time queuing (a-hem) before we found our leader & made our way to Drink Station 2 on foot.
thought our group had generally nice ppl,
though DHS ppl consisted of half the grp. haha.
we spent a lot of our breakfast time entertaining ourselves as expected.
with them eating fishball fried mee and me eating my hotdog bun.
but they were saying some sick joke that almost got me choke on it. ><
we didnt take a long time to set up and get ready!
geraldine and i found out that pouring drinks is quite fun!
the whole thing was a bit like diner's dash!
a pity we dont really have a lot of runners running past us though.
it was only the 42km-ers and half-marathon 21km-ers and not the 10km-ers.
but still, it was a good experience!
and we were quite efficient at cleaning up the rubbish too!
the cups espeically! ((:
we were so efficient that we finished super early,
we even started walking back to the finishing point when they called half of us back to clear stuff off the road.
who knows that due to total bad organisation,
there was this loose end yet to be tied up and
we had to clear up the mess for them,
although in full knowledge that we're jus in fact making another mess for the movers to clear up.
and it didnt' help to have someone shouting all the AP comments while the rest of us were trying to live with whatever job that we had to do.
all the "EXCUSE ME!!!" & "EYE POWER"only added on to the fury in our hearts even though we were civil enough not to show it like you did.
yesh we know you are pissed with doing sai-kang,
but have you spared a thought for all of us who are just as pissed but are trying not to show it knowing that it'll only lower the morale of the rest?
shouting at others doesnt make the job easier you know.
though u might be unwilling to try out new ideas,
cant you at least try to be considerate?
we are only trying to think of a more efficient way.
ok fine if you dont want to listen to us.
but cant you at least listen to what your friend had to say?
working in a team makes will make things easier if you even stop headbutting sturbbonness to realise.
ARRGHH.
i've complained enough so i shall not rant about it futher here,
but all in all it just made me super pissed.
Period.
ohh but we met our seniors (TienLeng & YiWei) cheering ppl on at the finishing line,
so that sort of lightened my mood a bit (:
though i wouldnt count that as a super good experience,
it doesnt mean that i cannot learn smth from it.
i think i begin to see the need to shut up and just stick with it,
in the case of working by instrustions despite how stupid they might be.
and remaining silent in the face of someone as unreasonable,
no matter how much endurance that might need.
in a nutshell i learn to better deal with difficult situations and difficult people lah.
but that guy really need to have some patience in him.
i know this kind of volunteering if is different from the kind that i saw in Life Transformers,
[yup it's the 8pm every Mon Channel 8, but sadly it's the last episode today?]
but i seriously recommand him to go watch that series.
i think he really can learn a lesson or two there (:
despite the ups and downs,
generally it was a good experience lah,
but different from my 1st session with the Deep Heat ppl in 2006.
oh well, this was a whole new kind of experience i suppose,
learning how to deal with AP ppl and more.
it was certainly an experience worthwhile (:

busy week (:
there's the end of a busy busy week.
and here's a short recount.
FRIDAY
guitar BBQ!
most of us went straight to Pasir Ris after practice in school.
however we took such a long time eating (i think becos of me)
and at NTUC (ended up buying 9 bottles of mineral water)
and waited super long for 403,
that we ended up even later than JingHuan who went home to deposit her alto guitar!
oh and then we went blading/cycling!
Suat & Kim tried to teach me to blade!
and i fell like, lots of times that even i lost count.
oh and Suat fell cause she tried to save me lor!
SO SORRY! >.<
and the BBQ was fun!
thanks 940 for all the food! ((:
but the Year 6s & Year 5s were still not really interacting much.
i was worried that XiaoYou & YiWei will get lost,
so we decided we'll go play in the playground then can suibian fetch them in (:
so the Year 5s went to play!
there were lots of kids there in the afternoon but at night it was mostly cleared (:
there was this circle pull-up bar thing, and this rotating plate thing,
and this obstacle course and this flying-fox thing..
haha it all made us super dizzy and super sandy and super felt like puking.
we all had a lot of fun!
but we didnt managed to finish playing the entire playground,
cause kim's phone and 940's ball went missing.
kim's phone was picked up by someone so that's easliy settled,
but we didnt hav such luck with the ball.
we spent super long trying to look for it but efforts were in vain.
sigh. think we better buy her a new ball le.
anyway guitar will be performing for Year 6s graduation!
we'll be the 1st group to perform at the DHS TJR campus!
so honoured right (:
SATURDAY
the embRACE funfair!
went collect the Remly Burgers before going to the funfair,
and sort of felt cheated cos there was no burgers nor egg.
had to prepare our own egg omlettle in the seed ro.om.
was listening to little nonya stories by Fredrick.
haha speaking of Fredick,
here's yet another Mr Helpful story. (:
one of us, WeeLeng i think,
wanted to go toilet then Fredick offered to bring her to the nearest toilet.
then the corridor was quite dark lah,
so she commented "wah so scary"
then Fredick was like, "want me to wait outside the toilet for you?"
omg lah!
he super gentleman right?
and he's quite a good brother too!
he specially got us to save a shirt for his brother,
who is super cute also!
and both of them kind of manned the ice-cream stall,
and kept asking ppl to eat the tubs of leftover ice-cream,
when the both of them where eating plain ice (the ice-kachang kind)
so nice right!
^______________^
haha but embRACE ended nicely.
and it turned out much better than expected!
even the funfair was ok lah,
though it was more of an internal affair more than anything and we ended up bringing home a lot of the things but we all enjoyed ourselves very much!
one kid even commented that "it's the best day of my life" while eating a whole cupful of ice-cream.
[ oh and we even managed to break even (: ]
and i think i really learnt a lot from embRACE.
from the traditional ethnic practices, to how to deal with kids,
making new friends, and improving relations with old ones,
and more importantly, working will people, organisational skills, and learning more about myself and realising my mistakes.
basically, embRACE rock!
it was certainly a super fullfilling and meaningful week.
and i'm going to miss Fredrick! ((:
SUNDAY
SV trip gathering!
went to play pool b4 helping the guys with the BBQ shopping.
seriously learnt the lesson of not buying just the cheapest of everything.
and after fetching the 2 lost sheep,
i seriously think i know Marine Parade a bit better now (:
it was nice catching up with the SV ppl (:
but i think future gatherings should avoid places that are too far to the East/West?
like this time the Boon Lay ppl took almost 2 hours to get to ECP >.<
haha i saw the 3 Boon Lay kids to City Hall MRT!
and Geraldine made them sms me when they got home,
which was super late lah!
i think we shld jus go for a simple steamboat session for smth for next gathering.
haha ((:
yupyup so that ended my busy busy week.
noticed that i havent been doing much work this week >.<
sigh after this performace going to start being hardworking agian!
plans for this week:
guitar performance @ TJR campus (which i hope isn't too ugly like that made it sound like)
meeting up with JiaYing for Math
dinner with Sharon
Standard Chartered Marathon! - which i hope to use to catch up with some ppl (:
+ maybe a midnight movie b4 that?
haha ((:
