there was once a legend,
that on the far-eastern side of the small urbanised kingdom of Singapura,
was a region secluded, and unexplored.
the forest of lush, beautiful greenery; was breath-taking but remained unknown to few.
a team of knights in shiny armour, riding their advanced vehicles,
stumbled upon the path and were so amazed with it,
that they later took on the challenge to emark on a journey to unreveal its hidden treasures and made it known to the world!
haha yup kudos to the organisers of Make Green the New Pink,
i've gotten my first brush the well-reknowned East Coast Park Connector (ECPN) !
nope we weren't trying to paint the lush greenery at ECP with coats of nippon pink paint or anything like that,
[though i would rather much like to see that happening! (: ]
but the Make Green the New Pink movement was nonetheless as revolutionary!
on the morning after Friday the 13th,
[yes it was THE morning of 14th Feb]
smelling all the lovey-dovey spirit in the air,
i was part of this bunch of crazy revolutionists that gathered at the Tampines Sun Plaza Park for the greatest revolution in Singapore history in an attempt to "Make Green the new Pink"!
armed with placards saying "Green is the new Pink!" and riding their portable transportation.
the avid cyclists clad in pale blue, were not a single bit different from their precedents in shiny silver armour!
TAKING THE ECPN BY STORM!
that was exactly what we did.
we went on the arduous journey of 28km fuelled only by pure leg power,
peddling to our hearts content (:
we started from tampines - pairs ris - loyang - changi - straight to ECP.
it felt great to be able to cycle with a group of seemingly strangers but yet are united with the same love for the two-wheeled transport!
however things weren't as good as i wanted them to be.
did i mention that i havent been cycling for a long long LONG time?
well, the truth is, i haven't any "cycling-on-the-road-&-steep-slopes" experience.
in fact i'm the sort who cant really control an over-sized bike >.<
so in actual fact i was screaming my lungs out whenever we reach steep slopes,
to the extent that to avoid being a danger to myself and others,
i decided that to stop being a road harzard and just push my bike down the multiple steep slopes.
hence, for most of the time,
i was struggling to push my oversized bike down those killer slopes. >.<
luckliy for me,
a white van came to the rescue!
haha yup it was the organisers who very nicely offered to pick me up and whisk me off to changi where there'll be flatter ground where i could cycle without causing harm to others!
and there was this Mr Photographer who offered to cycle with me all the way to the ending!
really glad they tried so hard to make sure i didnt injure myself.
i really appreciate the patience and concern,
THANKS LOTS!((:
Grace was waiting patiently for me at the ending point,
and when i finally made it i was greeted by smiling faces at the reception counter and a nicely packed lunch + goodie bag!
while enjoying the performances i was actually thinking:
" *phew* i'm so lucky to survive this without a scratch! "
i've always wanted to undertake a journey on bike around Singapore,
and i'm so glad Grace asked me to join her in this movement to Make Green the new Pink!
despite not being to complete all of the 28km,
i'm glad of this new experience as i've certainly learnt lots in this journey!
and i will definitely challenge myself by taking my biking skills onto greater heights by guardually training and conquering the whole of Singapore soon!
CLCYLIST SINGAPORE, HERE I COME!
let me show you my GREEN LEG POWER!
be prepared for the NEW PINK MOVEMENT! ((:
if suddenly your streets turned pink without a reason,
you'll know who's the author of the masterpiece
*wink*
GREEN IS THE NEW PINK!
i've joined the revolution,
have you?
