THE day of A level results.
the Year 7s were the talk of the whole week as all eyes were fixed on their performance.
they werent only taking the exam for themselves,
but on their backs were also the burden of being the pioneer batch of DHP students!
it doesnt only concern only them but the WHOLE SCHOOL!
i can imagine, it couldnt have been a more traumatising experience.
the speculations came from not only the principal & teachers,
but also us juniors too!
especially because we would soon be following their path and that their performace would directy foreshadow ours ><
their results could well be a indictor for not only for our results,
but may be be used as a benchmark to access effectiveness of the DHP in comparision to other programs, and to a certain extent, even the whole idea of the integrated program.
see the underlying issue embroiled behind this table of statistics?
the issue: whether and to what extent has the DHP prepared the students well for the GCE A levels examination?
i'm going to be truthful as i say this,
despite all their good testimonals,
they didnt really live up to their expecatations.
or rather, my expectations of them.
perhaps it's just the fact that they are hand picked,
juniors like me expect a lot out of them?
being the guinea pigs to try the system,
they are to be required to do what other students in other JCs wouldn't need to be bothered with:
being role models of the generations of dunmanians who are going to follow their footsteps and at the same time maintaining high academic status for the reputation of dunman high comparable to the top JCs.
it was tough on them, but inevitable that they had to be subjected to high level of pressure to fulfill this double role,
but i must say they did a great job.
to me they were great seniors,
much better seniors than we ever would be.
i believed that their work ethics and graceiousness really impressed both teachers and juniors alike, and are great inspirations for me to aspire towards!
i do have a lot of respect for them, not to mention high expectations.
but i can understand that mainly it's cause we're expecting too much out of them.
BaoJia is god, but we cant expect all of them to be gods like her.
so prehaps what we were expecting was too much to ask for.
but all the same, here's a tribute to dearest Year 7s,
you guys have worked hard and have done dunman high proud.
just like what mr sng said,
we are proud of you not because of you produce good results,
but because you have displayed the courage and determination we want to see throughout the process of the journey.
and that's what makes a dunmanain different from the people from the other JCs.
i'm proud of our 德明宝贝s ((:
